Change for Climate is a climate change initiative from the City of Edmonton.
Earth Day started in the USA on April 22, 1970 with people protesting the negative impacts of industrial development - smog, pollution, declining biodiversity. Now a global event held every year, Earth Day continues to be important to increase awareness of and support for environmental protection.
Earth Day Canada’s theme this year is “Consume Less, Play More”, focusing on reducing plastic pollution and overall consumption and increasing playing outdoors.
Earth Day International lists a number of campaigns they’re involved with, from ending plastic pollution and reducing your footprint, to planting a tree and eating less meat. You’re likely to find at least one that resonates with you.
Environmental protection goes beyond Earth Day. These actions, as well as ones we list here on our blog, are ones we can continue to work on throughout the year.
Let’s change something before climate changes everything.
