Change for Climate is a climate change initiative from the City of Edmonton.
The Climate Change is Here exhibition is on loan from the Canada Science and Technology Museum in partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Natural Resources Canada, and Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
It was brought to Edmonton to raise public awareness of climate change, especially as Edmonton prepares to host the Cities and Climate Change Science Conference from March 5 to 7.
The display will be at the Meadows Community Recreation Centre (2704-17 Street) from January 25 to about March 17. It will then move to the Clareview Community Recreation Centre (3804-139 Avenue) until May 19.
A number of community events are being hosted as a lead-up to the upcoming international conference, including this exhibit. More information about the events can be found at edmonton.ca/ClimateChangeConference2018.
This photographic display features stunning imagery of climate change as told through photographs from National Geographic Society’s reportage of the topic throughout the years. The exhibit highlights Canadian research in the field of climate change, and technologies developed to help mitigate it.
Edmonton’s Energy Transition Strategy is being implemented now. It focuses on efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition away from our dependency on fossil fuels.
The City is developing a Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategy that will help our community to adapt to a changing climate.
