Have you ever thought of buying an electric vehicle (EV)? Now is the perfect time to consider choosing an EV as your next vehicle. Since May 1, 2019, the federal government has been offering an incentive of up to $5,000 to purchase zero emissions vehicles.
Check out the list of eligible vehicles.
Why get an electric vehicle
Besides the environmental benefits of EVs (such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved air quality), electric vehicles require less maintenance.

Charging your electric vehicle
On average, it takes about 4 to 6 hours to charge from empty to full. With the ability to “fuel up” at home, you’re always able to top up - just like plugging in your phone!
At home
You can charge your EV at home by plugging into a regular 120V wall outlet or by installing a home charging station.
On the road
Edmonton has over 40 publicly accessible charging stations. To find the charging stations closest to you, visit Plugshare or ChargeHub.
The City of Edmonton is working to install more stations. Learn more about electric vehicles in Edmonton and the City’s EV Strategy at edmonton.ca/electricvehicles.
