Change for Climate is a climate change initiative from the City of Edmonton.

It’s often said there are two seasons in Edmonton: winter and construction. Well, thankfully, construction season is still here! Now is the perfect time to prepare your home for those chillier months to come. Edmontonians use a tonne of heating and lighting in the dead of winter, so we have a great opportunity to save lots of energy and increase our comfort with some simple renovations.

You can weatherstrip your doors, caulk your windows, get an Energuide evaluation to learn about all your other energy-efficiency options, and if funds allow, a solar installation. The City of Edmonton has made (tiny) explanation videos to get you started on all your energy saving goals! Here are a couple:

Seal up those drafty windows. Find out what tools you need to caulk your window and how to do it.
Feel a draft under the door? That breeze means wasted energy and money. Find out how to fix it with weatherstripping.

With Edmonton's colder temperatures, increasing the R-Value of your attic or roof's insulation will help prevent heat from escaping.

Get Started

The higher the R-Value, the better it will insulate. For optimal energy savings, upgrade or add insulation that's R40 or higher. It's always best to hire a qualified professional to install insulation.
