Edmonton’s Residential Solar Rebate Program was launched in July 2019 and over 240 homeowners have installed solar energy systems since then.
As of February 2021, the program was expanded to include multi-family buildings (like apartments and condominiums) and newly constructed homes. Edmontonians have incredible solar potential, and the changes in the Residential Solar Rebate Program provide greater accessibility to the technology.
The program changes are:
- Eligible property types now include mobile homes and secondary suites (that is, garage and garden suites)
- Eligibility for multi-family residential buildings was clarified and maximum rebate amounts created
- Changes to eligibility for newly constructed homes and their rebate amounts
- Technical updates such as the module warranty period changed to 25 years and expectation of AC/DC ratios.
More details on these changes can be found in the Program Terms and Conditions.
If you have any questions or concerns about the changes, please email solar@edmonton.ca or call 587-287-1903.
