Timberland boots, Funny or Die, Michaels craft stores, Sotheby’s Auction House… and the City of Edmonton. What do these things have in common? They are all are competing for the internationally recognized Webby Awards which honour excellence on the Internet.
The Renewable Series, produced by the City of Edmonton and the creative agency Sticks & Stones, has been nominated for a Webby in the Film and Video - Branded Entertainment (Series) category. Part of that nomination includes a People’s Voice category, which means the winner will be chosen by you, the public.
We’re up against big budgets featuring big names like Will Ferrell, Nas and Snoop Dogg.
Renewable is a small series with a big message. It’s a video and story series about visionaries, creators, community leaders and above all else, Edmontonians, each with a unique vision of a sustainable future in the heart of Canada’s fossil fuel industry. The series was created by to highlight the vision and talent that exists here in the city.
We could sit back and say, “It’s an honour just to be nominated,” but we also want to win! At the time this was posted, the video featuring Will Ferrell was in the lead! We can’t let him win!
What do we want you to do? VOTE! You have until April 19 to cast your vote for Renewable. You’ll need to sign in and register, but that’s just to validate your vote.
After you’ve voted, tell everyone you know to vote as well. Every vote counts to put Edmonton on the international stage for Renewable.
Let’s hear it for the underdogs!
And as if the prospect of winning the Webby Awards People's Voice wasn't enough, we'd like to add that we are nominated for the prestigious, international Banff World Media Festival Rockie Award for digital non-fiction series, and won 2018 ACE Awards (for Broadcast Series and Advertising Campaign).
